I get so frustrated with having to think of ways to integrate technology into art & art education. Besides graphic design, I don't see technology being a major role in fine arts. When I think of art, I think of self-expression and being focused on painting and drawing what is in your mind. Technology doesn't seem important to me when it comes to fine arts. Besides computer programs such as Photoshop or Illustrator, can you think back to a time in your art classes where technology played an important role?
Hi Karli, I had similar feelings about integrating technology into an art program before we began this course. Technology definitely did not play a major role in my art classes, but it was also more limited at that time. Now it's here to stay and we have no choice but to use it for the benefit of teaching and learning. I was really surprised by the technologies my group dug up for the spreadsheet activity. We found many online resources and other project ideas that are truly exciting and interactive, and can be used to really help students get involved in many aspects of art learning. I hope your group has a similar outcome!
ReplyDeleteIt may be frustrating now, but Laura pointed out something vital and important. Using a class like this and sharing with our fellow classmates can give us come great ideas on how to incorporate technology into our classrooms. By discussing this topic with others, even outside of your content areas, there is a possibility that what other teachers use in their classrooms could benefit and help you out as well. Good luck and I hope it gets easier for you.
